MEET TISHELLE

She doesn't just
design your home.
She gives it back to you

PRINCIPAL DESIGNER & CEO  ·  HAUTE & POLISHED DESIGNS  ·  WASHINGTON, DC

THE DESIGNER

Design has always been in her blood. She just had to understand why.

Tishelle Ogunfiditimi grew up watching two women do something remarkable with very little.

Her great-grandmother, born in the island nation of Trinidad and Tobago, kept a home that stopped people in their tracks. Not because of what she spent. Because of how she saw. Plants positioned to catch the light. Artwork chosen with intention. Linens and curtains that changed with the seasons, a quiet, rhythmic ritual that said: this space matters, and so do the people in it.

Her mother carried the same tradition. Rearranging furniture not as an act of necessity, but as an act of renewal. Teaching a young Tishelle, by example, that a room could be transformed without a single new purchase, only a new perspective.

That lesson never left her.

"My great-grandmother didn't have much. But she understood something most people spend their whole lives trying to buy: that your home is your sanctuary. And a sanctuary is something you create and not something you acquire."

THE PHILOSOPHY

Your peace of mind
is priceless.
Not the $20,000 chandelier.

Tishelle will be the first to tell you that the most important thing in any room has nothing to do with what's in it.

It has to do with how it makes you feel when you walk through the door.

This is the belief that separates H&P from every other design firm: that great design is not a luxury reserved for the aesthetically ambitious, it is a fundamental act of care for your health, your nervous system, your children, and your life. The research is clear. Your environment affects your cortisol levels, your sleep quality, your sense of safety, your capacity to rest and recover. Biophilic design. Color psychology. Air quality. Light. These are not design trends. They are human needs.

Tishelle addresses them unapologetically in every project, because she believes that when you understand the real value of a well-designed home, you stop justifying the investment to everyone else. You simply know.

"No one should have to explain why their home matters to them. My job is to create a space so right, so healing, so completely yours, that you never feel the need to."

WHY THIS WORK

The client she will never forget.

Early in her career, Tishelle worked with a woman who was starting over.

A major life change. A new space. A blank slate that felt more frightening than freeing.

Tishelle helped her design a room that was entirely, unapologetically hers. And what happened in the weeks and months that followed is the reason Tishelle has never once questioned her path.

The woman's posture changed. Her confidence changed. The people in her life,  her children, her friends, the ones orbiting her world, felt the difference too. A space had been transformed. And in being transformed, it had quietly transformed everything around it.

"That experience taught me that design is never really about the room. It's about what the room gives back to the person living in it. That's the work I'm here to do"

A GLOBAL EYE

She was born seeing the world differently. Literally

Tishelle was born in Heidelberg, Germany.

The daughter of a military family, she grew up moving across cities, across countries, across cultures at an age when most children were still learning the geography of their own neighborhood. What could have been disorienting became, for Tishelle, one of the most profound gifts of her life.

She learned early that beauty does not belong to one culture, one aesthetic, or one way of living. She learned to find it everywhere in the precision of European architecture, in the warmth of Caribbean homes, in the way different peoples across the world honor their spaces with whatever they have. Each place left something in her eye. Each experience widened her sense of what a home could be.

That global perspective now lives in every project she touches.

It is why H&P interiors never feel like they came from a catalog. Why the material palette for a client in Georgetown carries echoes of something you can't quite place but immediately recognize as elevated. Why the spaces Tishelle designs feel well-traveled, deeply considered, and entirely unlike anything produced by a designer whose world began and ended in one zip code

"Travel taught me that the most beautiful spaces in the world have one thing in common: they are deeply, unapologetically specific to who lives in them. That is what I bring home to every client."

WORKING WITH TISHELLE

What every H&P client knows by the end of their project.

Every project begins with Tishelle's trained eye, an assessment that goes beyond aesthetics to understand how you actually live, what your space is doing to your body and mind, and what it could be doing instead.

"She saw things in my space I didn't know were possible."

Tishelle manages every detail, every vendor, every timeline with the same precision she brings to the design itself. Her clients do not chase contractors. They arrive to a completed space.

"She protected my investment like it was her own."

The relationship doesn't end at the reveal. Tishelle's clients return, for new projects, for second homes, for the next chapter. Because once someone has designed a space that genuinely changes how you live, you don't go anywhere else.

"She became one of my most trusted advisors."

A NOTE FROM TISHELLE

I want you to know something before we begin working together.

I take this seriously, not just the design, but the trust. When you invite me into your home, you are handing me something deeply personal. The way you live. The way you want to feel. The version of your life you are building toward.

I was born in Germany, raised by a military family that showed me the world before I was old enough to understand what a gift that was. I have been shaped by the architecture of Europe, the warmth of the Caribbean, the way cultures across the globe honor the spaces they call home. That is in everything I do in the way I see a room, in the references I pull from, in the standard I hold for what a space can become when it is truly designed for the person living in it.

I do not take that lightly.

I also want you to know that the home you deserve is not out of reach. It is not reserved for a different kind of person with a different kind of life. It is available to you, right now, through the clarity of a good design,  one that starts with understanding who you actually are, not just what you want your room to look like.

That is why I do this work. That is why it has never felt like work at all.

I cannot wait to see what we create together.
